The way forward

A traffic light with a green arrow pointing up.

The world as we know it is changing. It always has and always will.

The way forward has never been clearer. Showing love, understanding, and compassion for one another is more important now than ever. Building relationships and community with those around us that align with our morals and values. Invest your time and energy here, I know I will. Try not to get distracted and discouraged from what you are reading in the news and on social media. Remember these platforms and the news media feed off your fears and worries.

Log off social media

If you can, limit your time on organized social media. There are several sites that are being developed in a more open-source environment. This means there is less of a risk of these companies being bought out by another company or individual. I am hopeful these will take off allowing us to have better and more inclusive communities.

Build your digital community

I started this website and blog to connect with others, share my views, and own the content I produce. During the pandemic, I was tired of algorithms and decided to limit posts on social media. In 2024, I stopped posting on most social media platforms and now only post on this website and blog.

This is something you can do too. There are digital communities across many different hobbies, careers, and interests that you can connect with. You will have deeper and more meaningful connections because you have built it without relying on a feed.

Create the change

I will leave you with this. The future is always uncertain and most of it is out of our control. Be gentle with yourself during this time. Find outlets that bring you peace and calm. As a society, we are at a crossroads but together we can still make difference for the issues and causes that are important to us.

A few years ago, during a walk at a local park, I spotted a bench where someone wrote, “The Optimist changed da world.” Of course, you do not have to be an optimist to bring about change. It is a reminder we can create the change we want to see in the world.

One of my mottos is to leave the world a better place than when I arrived. I am not about to stop now — will you join me?
