Nog Open — Privacy-First "What's Open" PWA

Nog Open is a privacy-first PWA that answers one question: "Wat is er nog open bij jou in de buurt?" (What's still open near you?). Built with vanilla JS, Leaflet maps, and OpenStreetMap data, it shows real-time status for shops, cafés, restaurants, pharmacies, bakeries, and markets across seven Dutch cities.

The app features four color-coded statuses (open, closing soon, opening soon, closed), a smart route planner that sorts stops by closing time, time travel to check future hours, wishlist and favorites, push notifications when a closed place opens, Dutch holiday warnings, and full offline support — all without an account, cookies, or any form of tracking.

The story behind the name

"Nog open" is what every Dutch person mutters at 20:45 while speed-walking to the supermarket. It translates to "still open" — the instinctive check before heading out. The app is named after that moment of urgency: you need something, it's getting late, and you just want a fast, honest answer. No app store download, no account creation, no cookie banners. Just open it and see what's still open.
