Laws of UX

Choice Overload

Too many options leads to decision paralysis and reduced satisfaction (paradox of choice). Limit visible options, use defaults, and allow filtering. Directly overlaps with cognitive load reduction.

In plain terms

Too many options can freeze people — limit the choices on show and offer sensible defaults.

Why this matters

Too many options cause paralysis and regret, and the people hit hardest are those already managing high cognitive load. Fewer, clearer choices help everyone decide and move on.
